KC Kelley Our Newest Employee In Action. Look Out For KC In His Band “Fades to Fros”. KC, a student of Dave LaRue’s, shows lot’s of potential, especially since he’s only 21!

 

 

 

Beaver Felton talking with David Pastorius (yes, you read the last name correctly), Jaco’s Nephew. Matt Buckner and John Willis, from SWR, dropped in with this surprise guest, a new Endorser of their fine amps and cabs. David jammed for an hour in the store and by the end was blazing, using fingerstyle, harmonics, slap, chords, tapping, plus a few other unique tricks . According to Beaver, David’s Slap Style would turn Vic’s head!

David plays in a Florida-based group, “Queen Mary”, featuring Mary Pastorius (Jaco’s daughter) on vocals!

“Their CD of original material is outstanding and quite different, combining various musical styles, beautifully haunting vocals, and predictably, great bass lines that are integral to the songs, up front in the mix.”, says Beaver. He further adds, “Their talent lives up to the excellence that you’d expect from this bloodline, represents the legendary Pastorius name well, and would make Jaco proud”!

“I recently had this made by a wood-worker guy in Savannah, GA, my home town.
It’s patterned after my 1976 Alembic Series One, Short Scale Bass. This “Mini Me” is destined to be hung on a wall either here at the store or at our home.”

Mike Reynolds (Left), a long time Drummer (and multi-instrumentalist) was an original member of “Five Miles High”, a huge rock group that toured the Southeast in 70’s-80’s. Ian Evans (recently deceased bassist for Lynyrd Skynyrd) played with Mike back then.     

 

James Rody (guitarist), owned/ran Rody’s Music for the last 35 years, along with brother George and sister, Carol. The store, a “Savannah Institution” according to Beaver, was founded by James’ parents in 1956, and kept in the family until being sold last year.

“I used to go in their store at age 12 and look in Awe at the Vox Super Beatle Amps!” says Beaver.

 

Both Mike and James now work at Stage Front Presentation Systems, were in Orlando for an A/V convention, and stopped into Bass Central for a visit.

 

“We continued reminiscing about old times over dinner for several hours after closing, along with Cary Shoob, yet another Veteran Savannah Musician!” states Beaver.

 

 

Antoine Arnauld , a French college student that chose Bass Central for an internship for his 2nd year in business. He worked with us, and lived here in Orlando, FL for a month period Mid 2009.
